UCLG-Eurasia continues to conduct learning seminar of the Sustainable Development Goals raising awareness of global agendas among Eurasia local governments. On September 13, 2023, the Mongolian city of Ulaanbaatar hosted the workshop on the SDGs. The event was attended by deputies and staffers of the Khural of Citizens’ Representatives of Ulaanbaatar.

Zhantsan Batbayasgalan, Chairman of the Khural of Citizens’ Representatives of Ulaanbaatar, and Rasikh Sagitov, Secretary General of UCLG-Eurasia, gave a welcome address to the participants.

“In 2019, Mongolia presented its first Voluntary National Review of the Sustainable Development Goals at the UN High-Level Political Forum, and this year the country submitted its second Review. All this speaks of Mongolia’s commitment to implementing the Sustainable Development Goals,” emphasized Rasikh Sagitov.

Tansylu Nurieva, Learning and Research Programs Coordinator, introduced the participants to the basic principles of the Sustainable Development Goals: “to leave no one behind”, the integrated nature, partnership, multi-level governance, accountability.

Saida Zagidullina, Development Director of UCLG-Eurasia, spoke about the projects related to combating climate change and being implemented by cities around the world, as well as the actions that local governments can take to reduce global warming and improve the ecology of their city. Particular attention was paid to the importance of advocacy for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals on the ground.

The learning workshop concluded with awarding certificates of participation in the seminar on the SDGs.
