UCLG-Eurasia Working Meeting

On Friday, December 15, a working meeting on the UCLG-Eurasia’s action plan for 2024 was held.

Rasikh Sagitov, Secretary General of UCLG-Eurasia, made a welcoming speech. He highlighted the largest events held by UCLG-Eurasia in 2023 and emphasized the significance of the upcoming events: “The events organized by UCLG are international and gather representatives of local and regional governments from all over the world. This is an opportunity for cities to make themselves known and increase their visibility”.

During the meeting, not only events under the auspices of UCLG and the UN, but the events of the UCLG-Eurasia members’ themselves were presented as well, and further actions in relation to these events were discussed. Saida Zagidullina, Director for Development of UCLG-Eurasia, and Tansylu Nurieva, Learning and Research Programs Coordinator, also told about other important directions of the organization’s work, including holding future workshops on localization of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and researches on the SDGs. In addition, information was given on a number of city awards, in particular, the 6^th International Award UCLG – Mexico City – Culture 21 and the Dubai International Best Practices Award for Sustainable Development.

The participants told about the events planned in their cities. They include the International Investment Forum in Dushanbe, the Northern Sustainable Development Forum in Yakutia, Literary Readings in Mendeleevsk, the Forum of Local Governments of Kyrgyzstan in Bishkek and others.

The meeting was held in the online format and gathered more than 40 representatives of the cities of Eurasia.
