Within the framework of the Eurasia Local Governments Congress the officials of associations and heads of structural divisions of municipalities from the Kyrgyz Republic, Russia, Turkey, Armenia, the Republic of Tajikistan and Mongolia took part in the two-day learning seminar “Localizing the SDGs”.

Jordi Pascual, Coordinator of the Committee on Culture of UCLG, and Lamine Abbad, Program Officer of UCLG, became the guides in the field of sustainable development for the participants of the seminar.

The seminar was arranged in the round table format, and all participants were divided into teams to discuss and carry out exercises. During the work the participants obtained great experience and shared information on the successful projects that are being implemented in their cities and regions.

Rasikh Sagitov, Secretary General of UCLG-Eurasia also took part in the seminar: “Local governments of Eurasia are working on the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. However it is necessary to do it consciously, using right approach, relying on the best practices that already exist. Largely due to this seminar we start to recognize how it is important to integrate the SDGs at local level and how each of us can make own contribution to their implementation”.

The first day of the seminar was marked by the speech of Tatyana Khabarova, Head of UN-Habitat in the Russian Federation. Tatyana Khabarova told about the peculiarities of the SDGs implementation in Russia. On the second day all participants were suggested to develop the concept of the SDGs integration in their regions, and then the participants proceeded to the presentation of the projects.
