Secretary General of UCLG has Visited Kazan

On Monday, 28 January, 2019, Emilia Saiz, Secretary General of UCLG, visited the city of Kazan. First of all, Emilia Saiz went to the Secretariat of UCLG-Eurasia and had a working meeting with the staff of the regional section.

Then, Secretary General met with Ilsur Metshin, Mayor of Kazan, President of UCLG-Eurasia. Evgenia Lodvigova, Vice-Mayor of Kazan, and Rasikh Sagitov, Secretary General of UCLG-Eurasia, also took part in the official meeting.

Welcoming the guest, Ilsur Metshin reminded that the last time such a meeting was held during the UCLG Executive Bureau. It took place in the capital of Tatarstan in 2016 on the eve of the Third World Summit of local and regional governments.

“Welcome to Kazan! Almost 3 years have passed since your last visit to our city. We are glad to see you in a good mood again”, Mayor of Kazan greeted the guest. Emilia Saiz noted that she was very pleased to have the opportunity to visit the winter Kazan and hoped to see the main city sights.
