The creation of the Volga Region Strategic Development Center (“Povolzhye”) was one of the outcomes of the meeting of Andrey Bocharov, Governor of the Volgograd Region, and Vladimir Marchenko, Mayor of Volgograd, with young people in August last year, where representatives of the organization “VYAZ” voiced ideas for the implementation of such a project for the first time.
The creation of the largest youth urbanist platform in Russia would unite federal and regional best practices and competencies in the field of architecture, to attract a wide pool of federal investors, to form a flagship project group in the region, to build interregional cultural and professional interaction as part of the discussion platform.
The structure of the center provides for a system of internships between regions, which would create an efficient professional elevator for young specialists. Among the important tasks of the new platform is the active involvement of young professionals in the implementation of the comprehensive program of strategic development of the heroic city of Volgograd until 2034.
During the meeting with young architects, Andrey Bocharov and Vladimir Marchenko discussed a large number of issues related to the creation of a unified architectural system for the Volga embankment. In particular, the novice specialists proposed to develop a master plan of the coastline from the Tractorozavodsky to Krasnoarmeysky district of Volgograd, to turn the city towards the Volga.
In addition, the youth representatives talked about how they want to see Volgograd and the Volgograd region today, tomorrow, in 10, 100 years. What projects they are ready to become co-authors of themselves. Such dialogs have already become the basis for the realization of a number of projects. Among other things, the platform where the event took place was created on the initiative of young Volgograd residents.
