Dubai is actively preparing for the Expo-2020. At the same time, Russia is already fighting for the opportunity to host the World’s Fair in 2025.
Last May Russia entered the race to hold EXPO-2025. The candidate was the city of Yekaterinburg. The stated theme is "Transforming the world: Innovations and a better life for future generations". In April 2018 the inspectors of the International Exhibition Bureau (IEB) arrived in Yekaterinburg and positively assessed the city's readiness for EXPO-2025.
If Ekaterinburg wins, the exhibition will be held from 2 May to 2 November, 2025. However, Paris and Osaka also applied for hosting EXPO-2025.
In November 2018, a decisive voting will take place at the session of the General Assembly of the International Bureau of Exhibitions in Paris. Ekaterinburg obtained a support from Mexico. Edgar Romo Garcia, Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies of the National Congress of Mexico stated it at the meeting with Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
