The UCLG World Council will be held on 5-8 November in Madrid. The Council members from all over the world will discuss the reports on the UCLG sections’ activities and the current issues, adopt a work plan for the next year and determine the strategy for further development of the organization.

The World Council includes mayors of the following cities: Moscow, Kazan, Yerevan, Dushanbe, Astana, Bishkek, Buinsk, Krasnoyarsk, Irkutsk, Astrakhan, Yelabuga, Bugulma, Innopolis, Volgograd, Novosibirsk, Naberezhnye Chelny, Nizhnekamsk, Rostov-on-Don, Kyzyl, Ulyanovsk, Arzamas, Perm, Khabarovsk, Izhevsk, Samara, Naryan-Mar, Vladikavkaz, Almetyevsk, Grozny and Cheboksary. Furthermore, there are heads of Spassky and Mendeleevsky municipal districts of the Republic of Tatarstan, President of the All-Russian Congress of Municipalities, President of the Union of Russian Cities and Temporarily in charge Head of the Sakha (Yakutia) Republic.

The World Council will be held in the framework of the 2nd World Forum on Urban Violence and Education for Coexistence and Peace. Its purpose is to open a joint process of debate, reflection and construction of common solutions that foster urban environments capable of eliminating expressions of violence.

The greenest city in the world, the highest capital of Europe, the 3rd largest city in the European Union (after London and Berlin), and the fourth one in the list of the richest cities in Europe - all this is about Madrid, the Spanish capital. Madrid is located in the center of the country. Its population is more than 3 million people; and it is annually visited by more than 5 million tourists.
