The Conference on Heritage will Take Place in Iran

The first session of the Organizing Committee of IX International Conference of Eurasia World Heritage Cities “Heritage, Culture and Tourism” took place on January 18, 2018 in Istanbul.

The conference will be organized by Euro-Asia Secretariat of the Organization of World Heritage Cities in collaboration with the Municipality of Tabriz (Iran) and will take place in the city of Tabriz on May 5-8, 2018 with the organizational support of UCLG-Eurasia, MEWA and Asian Mayors Forum.

Regional Coordinator of OWHC Secretariat for Euro-Asia, UCLG-Eurasia Secretary General Rasikh Sagitov, MEWA Secretary General Mehmet Duman, Mayor of Tabriz Iraj Shahin Baher, Manager of Tabriz International Department Alireza Baghban Hadigheh and others took part in the meeting.

The parties discussed the topics of the conference, conditions of participation and defined the further work plan. Participants of the meeting supported the idea of Rasikh Sagitov to hold the video contest dedicated to the theme of heritage among the youth. The contest will start in February and its results will be presented at the conference in Tabriz.

The agreement to depict the heritage sites of the city of Tabriz on one of the buildings of Kazan and to draw the heritage sites of the city of Kazan on one of the buildings of Tabriz was achieved within the framework of the OWHC project “Eurasia Heritage”.

The next meeting of the organizing committee will take place at the end of February, 2018 in Tabriz.
