UCLG-Eurasia in Preparations of the Voluntary National Review on the SDGs

On September 30, 2019 in Moscow, the meetings of thematic working groups on preparing the Russian Voluntary National Review of the Sustainable Development Goals Achievement that will be presented at the UN General Assembly in 2020 took place.

Representatives of UCLG-Eurasia took part in panel discussions on four SDGs:

SDG 4 – “Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all”;

SDG 7 – “Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all”;

SDG 8 – “Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all”;

SDG 9 – “Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation”.

During the meetings the drafts of chapters of the Voluntary National Review were presented, and intermediate results were discussed.

Each chapter includes information on Sustainable Development Goals indicators and introduces measures and projects which facilitate their achievement. They assess the current regulatory base, progress in the achievement of the goals, barriers and plans for the future.

The participants of the discussion agreed that the Review must reflect the contribution of private initiatives and business to the achievement of the SDGs.
