Ilsur Metshin Re-elected the President of UCLG-Eurasia

Ilsur Metshin, Mayor of Kazan, was re-elected the President of UCLG-Eurasia. This decision was made during the General Assembly of the Eurasian section, which was held in Cheboksary in the framework of the Eurasia Local Governments Congress. 

In addition, the new Vice-Presidents were elected. Thus, Alena Gubanova, Mayor of Astrakhan, Sunduin Batbold, Mayor of Ulaanbaatar, and Aisen Nikolaev, Head of the Sakha Republic, became the Vice-Presidents of UCLG-Eurasia.

During the Assembly, the participants summed up the work done over the past 3 years. The most important events during the reporting period included the V UCLG World Congress, which was held in Bogota in October 2016, the UCLG Executive Bureau meeting in Kazan, and the VIII International Conference of Eurasia World Heritage Cities on the theme “Children, Heritage, Tourism”, which took place in April last year in Safranbolu. Active work was carried out in the direction of strengthening cooperation with other sections of the UCLG: Asia-Pacific, Latin American, Middle Eastern, and African.
